Cycling in Salzburg – urban yet relaxed

Salzburg is wonderful to explore on two wheels – we say: sightbiking instead of sightseeing! Completely stress-free and with no carbon footprint.
You can find Mozart & Co without us. But where are the hip hotspots that are a little more hidden? We have the tips you need to get to know the real Salzburg, away from the well-known clichés. The other side of the Mozartkugel, so to speak. Our staff are true lifestyle guides and will be happy to show you the city’s new hotspots. The most exciting neighbourhoods can be explored at your leisure by bike from the hotel in the centre of Salzburg.

Thanks to our location directly on Getreidegasse, we are the perfect starting point for short trips or longer excursions. Our city bikes are included in the room price and can be used at any time. Just hop on and let the reception know.
The bikes take a break in winter. But as soon as spring arrives, they are ready again: for short getaways, great discoveries and the most beautiful tours through Salzburg.

Cycling tours from the Hotel Blaue Gans: three special routes
Bike tour to Leopoldskron in Salzburg
Leopoldskron is both a mythical and mystical place. Festival founder Max Reinhardt settled in the archbishop’s former hunting lodge and hosted opulent evenings here. Even today, you can still admire his extensive library – a place steeped in history, very close to our bike hotel in Salzburg.
The flamingos in the small, publicly accessible zoo greet us from afar. They are exotic inhabitants of a small animal paradise. From our hotel in the centre of Salzburg, you can easily reach Leopoldskron by city bike – ideal for a relaxed tour during your cycling holiday in Salzburg.

Hellbrunner Allee – green axis through the city
If you want to cycle from the centre to the south of the city, take Hellbrunner Allee, a historic tree-lined avenue that is one of the most beautiful cycle routes in Salzburg. An experience for all the senses awaits you right at the end: Hellbrunn Palace with its pleasure gardens, water features and grottos.
The route is flat, quiet and full of scenic viewpoints, perfect for relaxed half-day trips.

Salzach riverbank – cycling by the water
The Salzach is more than just a river; it is the lifeline of Salzburg. Along the well-developed cycle path, you will discover not only the city centre but also the greener and quieter sides of the city. You will cycle through floodplain landscapes and meadows, along the Königsseache, with almost no traffic.
Starting point? Right outside the door of the Hotel Blaue Gans.

Sustainable travel and still independent
Cycling in Salzburg means no searching for parking spaces, no traffic jams, no time pressure. Instead, you get fresh air, your own paths and new perspectives. Those who choose to cycle not only discover the city, but also a different pace.
And the best thing about it: you are doing something good for yourself and the environment. No carbon footprint, but all the more lasting impressions.
