No.
The house is owner-managed, Andreas Gfrerer personally runs the Blaue Gans.

Is there a restaurant on site?

Yes.
The Blaue Gans restaurant is located in the house and is open to in-house guests and external guests.

Yes.

Why is it worth booking directly?

Direct bookings via our website are cheaper than bookings via online portals.

How do I change or cancel my booking?

You manage portal bookings (Booking.com/Expedia etc.) via the respective portal.
You can change website bookings directly online.
For email bookings write to office@blauegans.at.

Is breakfast included in the room price?

You choose: with or without breakfast.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in from 3:00 p.m., check-out by 11:00 a.m.

Depending on availability, we are happy to organize an earlier check-in: from 12:00 p.m. for €29, from 10:00 a.m. for €49.
A later check-out can also be arranged depending on availability: until 2 p.m. for €29, until 4 p.m. for €49, until 6 p.m. for €99.

Perhaps a larger room category would suit your stay better?
An upgrade to the next higher category is possible, subject to availability, for €50 per night.

Can I check in online?

Before your arrival you will receive access to our online check-in via email.
There you fill out the registration form, view your bill and pay it conveniently in advance.
You can collect your room card in person at reception upon arrival.

Is the reception staffed 24 hours a day?

Yes, our team is there for you day and night.

Can I store my luggage before check-in or after check-out?

Yes, gladly.
Simply drop off your luggage at reception and pick it up there when you’re ready.

Which room suits us?

From compact to spacious: Small & Smart (20 m², for 1-2 people) to Cityflat Maisonette (115 m², for up to 4 people), with five additional categories in between with their own character.
All rooms are equipped with a double bed, in some there is space for a third or fourth person via a sofa bed or an extra bed.
Our reception will be happy to advise you on the appropriate category.

All rooms have air conditioning and free WiFi.

Are there barrier-free rooms?

Our house has stood since 1350 and is a listed building.
A lift takes you to the upper floors; individual areas can be reached via steps.
In order to preserve the historical building structure, the floor plans remained largely unchanged; not every room is completely step-free accessible.

Is smoking allowed in the hotel?

The hotel is a non-smoking property.
Smoking is permitted outside.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, on request.
The fee is €30 per night.

When is breakfast?

Daily from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Can I book breakfast later?

Yes, until the evening before.

Are there plant-based options?

Yes, oat milk and plant-based alternatives are a given.

Where is the hotel located?

The Arthotel Blaue Gans is located directly on Getreidegasse and Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz, opposite the festival halls, in the middle of Salzburg’s old town.
The house connects several historical buildings.

How do I get to the hotel from the train station or airport?

From September 14, 2026 until the end of March 2027, the Neutor will be closed to motorized traffic.
The city is building an underground connection between the festival halls in the Mönchsberg.
For this period, the Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz stop is your starting point, about a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
Line 10 takes you there from the airport, and trolleybus lines 1, 22 and 23 from the main station.

Where can I park and how does the access work?

The house does not have its own parking space.
It is best to drive directly to the public old town garage A, Hildmannplatz 1: Salzburg Mitte motorway exit → Maxglaner Hauptstraße → Old town garage A. The pedestrian exit leads directly opposite the hotel.

Do you need help with your luggage when getting out?
Contact us in advance by telephone or in writing – depending on availability, we will be happy to pick you up directly from the garage, we cannot give a guarantee.

Alternatively, you can also reach our loading zone directly at the house with a small detour over the Müllner Hügel.

Do you offer valet parking/valet?

Our valet parking service is currently paused until the end of March 2027. After that, we will be happy to organize it for you again, subject to availability.

Is public transport included in the rate?

Yes: With the Guest Mobility Ticket you can travel free of charge on all public transport in the state of Salzburg during your entire stay.
Simply give us the names and dates of birth of all your fellow travelers, the easiest way is via online check-in.
If you would like to use the ticket for your journey, write to us briefly at office@blauegans.at and we will send it to you in advance.
